The energy was high and Patriot spirit was contagious at this year’s annual Patriot Pace. On Oct. 9, hundreds of K-12 students, teachers, and staff ran laps on the soccer field for the school fundraiser to help raise money for the new Vision 30 project.
Students collected donations or pledges from family and friends, with many setting personal goals not only for laps completed, but also for funds raised. As an extra incentive this year, any student with commitments of $200 dollars or more received a card for a free snow cone to cash in on the day of the Patriot Pace.
As a new addition this year, the senior class hosted a vibrant face-painting station offering anything from school colors to festive designs. This was a huge hit and students eagerly waited in long lines for their turn to have their face painted.
“The student council members came up with the idea to have face paint to show school spirit,” said Joyce G, senior.
“My favorite thing from the Patriot Pace was bonding with my buddy during the laps,” said Chase M, sophomore.
High school was paired with buddies from the elementary, and they cheered together before the race. The judges awarded points for creativity, participation, and overall spirit, with the freshman class and 4th graders taking home the prize of a dress-down day.
“This was my first ever Patriot Pace, and it was so fun!” said Allie H, sophomore. “I loved the face paint and how we got to run with our buddies. This is a great way to raise money for our school while also having fun.”
