This school year has hit it off musically in just a few short weeks! Handbell choir rehearsals have started, and the choral group from last year sang in D.C. for the 2018 National Private School Leadership Conference.
Mr. Probus, alumni and academy parent, has volunteered to direct this year’s handbell choir. Because of the already busy schedule, the only time to meet was an hour before the school day begins. Twice a week, at 7:00 a.m. sharp, twelve students arrive in the music room to begin practice.
Sarah H, Cindy Y, Julie U, Connor D, Caleb D (seniors); Alyssa R, Justin G, John F, Lauren M (juniors); Charity B, Amy F, and Matthew B (freshmen) are all in the handbell group.
Several students have expressed their enthusiasm about handbells.
“I think it’s a great opportunity for us to start handbells again this year,” said Julie U, senior. “We have a good group, and we work very well together.”
“I think handbells can really excel if we put in some hard work,” said Alyssa R, junior. “Even though it’s really hard to wake up early sometimes, I know we can get really good at it!”
“I think that it is going well and we’ll have a good chance in ODACS,” said Justin G, junior.
“It’s a good way to get into the morning,” said John F, junior.
