The seniors of Fairfax Baptist Temple Academy were recognized during their home basketball games Friday night, Feb. 1. The jv boys, and both varsity girls’ and boys’ teams played an intense night of basketball against Landmark Christian School. The varsity girls won their game, and afterward the seniors had their special moment.

“Senior night was a really memorable night for me,” said Melanie T, senior. “From being able to walk out with my parents, to being able to see how emotional we all got afterwards. I also loved singing the national anthem with my class. It was fun to practice with them, and see how the song turned out in the end.”

Before each final game of the night during basketball season, the school plays a recording of the national anthem while everyone pledges to the American flag; however, the seniors decided to learn their own arrangement of “The Star Spangled Banner” and perform it that evening. The audience immensely enjoyed the performance.

“Despite losing to the Landmark guys afterwards, senior night was a wonderful night,” said Connor D, senior. “The seniors got food from Glory Days afterwards to eat, and we stayed in the gym afterward to celebrate. The food was really good.”

Not only did the seniors get recognized that night, but they also had a fellowship afterwards in the gym and also played another round of basketball against each other.

“I really enjoyed the time I had with my class after the basketball games,” said Hart Z, senior. “It was a great time for getting closer as a class.”
